Bostons Depth Proves Too Much

Mavs Fall Short as Celtics Take 2-0 Series Lead in NBA Finals

Boston's Depth Proves Too Much

The Boston Celtics have taken a commanding 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals after a 107-89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks in Game 2 on Sunday night.

Boston's depth proved to be too much for the Mavericks, as they got contributions from up and down their roster. Jayson Tatum led the way with 20 points, followed by Marcus Smart (19), Jaylen Brown (17), and Al Horford (15).

Luka-Kyrie Duo Struggles

The Mavericks' star duo of Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving struggled to get going in Game 2. Dončić finished with 21 points on 7-of-18 shooting, while Irving had just 9 points on 3-of-13 shooting.

The Celtics' defense was able to limit Dončić and Irving's effectiveness by forcing turnovers and contesting their shots.

Celtics Ground Mavs Bigs

The Celtics also did a good job of limiting the Mavericks' big men. Kristaps Porziņģis, who missed Game 1 with a calf injury, returned to action but was held to 20 points.

The Celtics' interior defense was particularly impressive in the second half, as they held the Mavericks to just 38% shooting from the field.
